The current economic crisis has been been messed up and has turned into a political crisis, Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said.
Mr. Wickremesinghe who was speaking to WION TV India said the economic crisis has been messed up by beurocratic arms of the government going in different directions. " Institutions such as Central Bank goes in one direction while other institutions are going on another direction," he said.
He warned that the country's banking sector is at risk as well.
Also he said the Indian Credit line will save the country only for few weeks. "
A shipment of oil is already in Sri Lankan soil but the prices might get doubled. I would say the Indian Credit line will help Sri Lanka for five to six weeks maximum," he said.
He also called for a safety net to safeguard social welfare.(Daily Mirror)
