Nirupama’s wealth exposed by Pandora Papers may be wealth of those in power: Anura

Claiming that Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband Thirukumar Nadesan were not those outside the crooked circle of the current regime, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said they doubt if the wealth exposed by Pandora papers was of those within the current regime.

He told a news conference that Nadesan is someone who had close links with the Rajapaksa regime.

He said the deed of the controversial house in Malwana, which is said to be owned by Basil Rajapaksa, was in Nadesan's name.

JVP MP Dissanayake also said that it was with Nadesan, Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Mahinda Rajapaksa's residence to discuss the transfer of power on January 8, 2015.

"Nirupama Rajapaksa and Thirukumar Nadesan are not those outside the crooked circle of the current regime. We suspect this wealth which was exposed could be of those who are within this crooked circle," he said.

He said it has been a common practice for Sri Lankan politicians or their cronies to be included in the reports exposed over black money anywhere in the world.

He said Pakistan Premier Imran Khan vowed to take action against the Pakistanis exposed by the Pandora Papers and added that the President, Prime Minister or the Finance Minister of Sri Lanka have failed to make such a statement on this exposure.(Daily Mirror )
