Wasantha Samarasinghe, Convener of the Voice Against Corruption and member of the JVP Central Committee has revealed that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is gearing to obtain a loan of US $ 2.5 billion from an American company called PSL.
He states that misusing the CPC to launder black money is a serious matter as a country.
Noting that this loan is to be obtained through an agent that has demanded 7pc of the deal, Mr. Samarasinghe questions who this broker is and under whose name this money will be credited.
Questioning whether Parliament has given its approval for this, he further pointed out that obtaining such a loan in a backdrop where international bonds are unable to be sold and that a number of countries have expressed uncertainty to provide loans to Sri Lanka, is problematic.
He further questions what is the link between this company and Sri Lanka.
