The government is said to be considering offering a Ministerial post to SLPP MP Wijedasa Rakapaksa in a bid to silence the outspoken MP, according to analysts and lankacnews website which is operated by a party stalwart.
It is expected that Rajapaksa will be appointed after the new year. However, Wijedasa Rajapaksa has told a weekend newspaper that he was happy not to be appointed as a minister of the current government.
Although Rajapaksa was offered a state minister post when the new government was formed, he declined to accept it and did not come to the swearing-in ceremony.
Political critics say the government's aim is to silence Wijedasa Rajapaksa and as well as resolve the crisis situation within the SLPP.
