Six killed in Pakistan lightning strike

PAKISTAN: At least six people were killed and eight others injured in lightning strike on Tuesday in Tharparkar district in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province, the rescue service reported.

All the victims were from Tharparkar, the rescue service said, adding that the deceased included five youngsters and a 35-year-old man. According to the reports, the accident happened early Tuesday morning in Sataro village of the district when a large number of people were walking on the road as a holy practice to attend a local festival.

The rescue workers and the locals shifted the victims to a local hospital, the rescue service said.

Majority of the people ran away from the site right after the lightning strikes and remained safe while those who were close to it suffered, it added.
