Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulated Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on his Liberal-led coalition election win on Wednesday.
“It is with pleasure that I convey to you my congratulations and best wishes on your victory at the recently-concluded federal elections in Australia. Your electoral victory demonstrates the trust and confidence reposed in your stewardship by the people of Australia. I have no doubt that your new government will achieve the desired goals for the continued benefit of the people in Australia,” the PM said in a message.
“It is my fervent hope that the warm and friendly multifaceted bilateral ties that have existed between our two countries for over seven decades will continue to be strengthened and consolidated during your tenure. I look forward to working with you in close cooperation to further advance our relations in the years ahead,” the message read.
