President Maithripala Sirisena has vowed to expedite the process to establish a Sri Lankan Embassy in Cambodia soon.
The President made these remarks when attending religious activities at a temple situated in the capital city of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. He said until such time an embassy is established, consuls would be appointed to coordinate diplomatic activities.
The President also added that Sri Lanka and Cambodia should work hand in hand in during the program which is initiated to spread Theravada Buddhism to the world.
According to the President’s Media Division, bilateral discussions between Sri Lanka and Cambodia aimed at improving investment opportunities and trade, have been successful and President Sirisena has also invited the Prime Minister of Cambodia to visit Sri Lanka in the future.
