The European Union’s support to Sri Lanka in meeting the challenge of violent extremism was promised yesterday when Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana held talks with the EU’s High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Federica Mogherini, on the side lines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Bangkok.
During the bilateral meeting, Mogherini stressed the EU’s solidarity with Sri Lanka following the Easter Sunday attack, a statement from the EU stated yesterday.
She underlined the EU’s readiness to support Sri Lanka in the face of this challenge to help prevent and counter violent extremism and support improvements in coordinating the country’s counter-terrorism efforts.
