Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader Rauff Hakeem told Parliament today that the Muslims in Sri Lanka felt the Indo-Lanka accord betrayed the Muslim community.
Speaking in Parliament today, Hakeem said that Muslims lost the political strength they had in the East as a result of the Indo-Lanka accord.
“With the Indo-Lanka accord the entire Muslim community felt they were betrayed because that paved the way for the temporary merger of the North and East,” he said.
Hakeem said the Muslims directed their anger towards the Muslim parliamentarians at the time.
