Forensic audit report annexures and exhibits now in parliament

In a prompt response to a request made by the Secretary-General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake, the Central Bank has already submitted all annexes and exhibits of the Treasury bond scam forensic audit report.

Senior Deputy Governor at Central Bank of Sri Lanka Nandalal Weerasinghe told a media conference on monetary policy review today Thursday 30 that on a request made by Parliament several documents which had not been presented earlier have now been submitted to Parliament.

He noted that Central bank cannot comment on the contents of the forensic audit report at the moment and it ha staken necessary measures to strengthen the Treasury bond procedure in accordance with the recommendations of the presidential commission.
The five Forensic Audit reports on the Central Bank Treasury bond scam, tabled in Parliament this week, have been found to be incomplete.

The Secretary-General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake has informed Governor of the Central Bank Professor W.D Lakshman recently that the reports did not contain the relevant annexes and exhibits.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has directed the Secretary-General of Parliament to take necessary action to make available the complete reports to Parliamentas soon as possible. .
Responding a to question raised by a journalist, Dr .Weerasinghe noted that the cost of contract to complete the forensic audit was Rs.275 million and the other expenditure of providing logistics including computers etc and other ancillary facilities for the team of auditors were very minimal compared to the total cost.

He added that the team of auditors and other staff had met personnel expenses in including for their meals etc out of their pocket.

The procurement of the five forensic audits was carried out by a Cabinet Appointed Consultant Procurement Committee and the contracts were awarded to audit firms with a global practice and international experience in forensic auditing with the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The procurement process of the sixth forensic audit is currently underway. (LI)
