With the new government coming into power, the former Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunge had been asked to leave his post and he had handed in his resignation and is planning on retiring from state sector service, it is reported.

Meanwhile, a group of foreign graduates are expected to be added onto the MOF pool.

Dr. Samaratunge who is a Sri Lanka Administrative Service A grade officer is considered as a specialist in economics and state finance policies.

Having obtained his first post graduate degree from the Indraprastha Institute of Public Administration in Delhi, then went on to obtain his MBA in Business Management at the Sri Jayawardenapura University and thereafter he obtained his MSc at the Wisconsin University in the US.

Further, the Deputy Treasury Secretary A.M.P.M.B. Atapattu has been asked to select another ministry immediately by the new Finance Ministry Secretary S.R. Attygalle.

It was Deshapriya and Atapattu who had been in charge of the Gamperaliya and Enterprise Sri Lanka programmes.

These programmes have now been stopped.
