All the citizens specially those in the Western Province are requested to restrict movements across districts as well, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.
Those who are living in other areas in the country are also requested to refrain from travelling to other areas unless for emergencies. “ We urge the citizens to restrict their movements only to their areas as mush as possible,” he said.
He said the decision to prohibit people in the Western Province from travelling outside the Province was taken to avoid the spread of Covid-19 to other areas.
He said most of the Covid-19 infected persons were identified within the Western Province during the last few weeks.
The Commander requested those who have already arrived in the Western Province from other areas to stay in the province until Sunday. “ We have not restricted arrival to the province. The public contribution to contain the spread of this virus is vital at this moment,” Lieutenant General Silva said.
Meanwhile, the Commander said no decision has been taken to impose quarantine curfew during the weekend.(Daily Mirror)
