Two more institution to come under Auditor General’s purview

The government will move an amendment to the 20th Amendment to bring the President's Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s office among the state institutions coming under the purview of the Auditor General.

The government will incorporate a dozen changes to the 20th Amendment during the committee change and a bulk of them are technical changes.

Earlier there was criticism levelled against the government for the exclusion of these two offices from the purview of the Auditor General.

Another substantial change to the original draft of the Bill will be the inclusion of a provision that provides for the President to dissolve Parliament only after two-and-a-half years. The original draft says it can be done after one year.

The Attorney General has already informed Court that the government will move amendments to the original draft during the committee stage.
