The ministry of education has decided to extend the ongoing interim school holiday by another week.
According to a media release issued by the ministry, he decision has been taken to ensure that schools are functioning safely.
Three students have tested positive for the virus, while PCR test reports of nearly 200 teachers and five students undergoing quarantine are expected in a few days, the ministry adds.
Schools will be reopened for Grade 11, 12 and 13 students on July 27. Students of other grades can attend school from August 10.
However, schools in the educational divisions of Rajanganaya and Welikanda will not re-open before August 10.
The statement further notes that the dates of the GCE A/L and Grade V scholarship exam will be announced on Monday (20).
