Intellectuals are answer to most issues – Gota

The Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday said a government led by him, in the first two years will allocate the highest amount of money for the education sector.

Speaking at a political rally in Mahara, Kadawatha yesterday Rajapaksa said if he becomes President he will initiate both long term and short term programmes to uplift the education sector as it was pivotal for the country’s socio-economic progress.

He said creating intellectual individuals would be an answer to most of the issues faced by the country.

Rajapaksa went on to say that a government led by him will also focus on infrastructure development as well as national security as priority areas.

The SLPP candidate added that he has already identified some key areas which need immediate assistance for further progress and said initially will try to develop those areas with maximum money allocations.

He said new technology and innovative methods will be put to good use when developing the country economically. Former President and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa too addressed the gathering.
