Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa has said he is preparing to present a proposal for the amendment of the Constitution for the upcoming presidential election.
He noted that without amending the constitution the crisis in the country cannot be overcome, adding the he anticipates to obtain the support of all parties represented in parliament for the constitutional amendment once the new government is appointed.
In an interview Rajapaksa had invited all parties anticipating a constitutional change to join him.
He had said that a referendum will definitely be held for this constitutional change to seek the views of the people.
