Renowned businessman Ashok Kariyawasam Pathirage has been appointed the Chairman of SriLankan Airlines with immediate effect, Aviation Ministry sources said. . .
His appointment was approved by the committee appointed to select suitable individuals to run public sector institutions and SOEs.
SriLankan Airlines announced that it is adding 18 more new cities in Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East through the expansion of its code share agreement with its one world partner Qatar Airways, bringing its global route network to 127 destinations in 56 countries.
The Ministry of Tourism and Aviation issued an appointment letter to Mr. Pathirage as a member and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the national carrier.
He is also the founder of the Softlogic Group as well as the Chairman of around 18 other major business entities in the country.
Mr. Pathirage heads the Softlogic Holdings which owns and operates several companies in the healthcare, leisure, retail, ICT automobile and financial services sectors.
He holds the chairman & Managing Director positions at Odel Plc, Softlogic Capital Plc, Asiri Hospital Holdings PLC, Asiri Surgical Hospital Plc Softlogic Holdings Plc, Alliance General Insurance Ltd Asiri Hospital Kandy (Pvt) Ltd., a Central Hospital Pvt Ltd., Ceysand Resorts Ltd Softlogic Group, Retail (Private) Ltd. and t Abacus International Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and Managing Director at Asiri Central Hospitals Ltd,
He hold s the post of Chairman at NDB Capital Holdings Plc, Softlogic Life Insurance Plc., Softlogic Finance Plc Softlogic Australia Pty Ltd Softlogic Information Systems Pvt Ltd., Softlogic Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., Softlogic Properties (Pvt) Ltd., and Softlogic Trading (Pvt) Ltd., Mr Pathirage is the Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of Softlogic Holdings.
