A special Presidential Task Force headed by Western Province Governor and Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonatileke assured that additional guidelines have been put in place to check the hygiene standards of military camps islandwide.
Goonatileke told The Morning that the new task force was appointed to check the hygiene standards of the military officers to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The social/physical distancing programmes, hygiene rules, and additional guidelines to be followed have been drafted by the new task force for all the military camps.
Goonatileke further said that the new task force consists of six members, including retired military heads and medical experts.
“As we had a problem in Welisara, we needed to stop the spread of the virus from there. We are confident that with
these measures we will be able to stop the spread immediately. Although most of the programmes were adopted by
the military before, there are additional measures that the military officers need to take into account, and we are
keeping a sharp eye on this intense programme,”; added Goonatileke.
