The Government has decided to reopen schools for the second term on May 11. However, the second term was scheduled to commence on April 20.
The decision was taken considering the safety of the children due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Government had arranged remote communication methods for school children to continue their studies during the extended school holiday.
It also informed the Education Ministry to start academic activities of the universities following the recommendations from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
