Banks considering mobile ATM facilities

It is reported that banks are considering mobile ATM facilities during the ongoing curfew.

Sri Lanka has been under curfew for days due to the prevailing Covid-19 epidemic. The issue of running out of cash after being confined to homes for days, has been aired by many on social media.

In response, Prof. Charitha Herath, head of media coordination at the Special Presidential Task Force for Essential Services has said the government was in talks with banks to address the issue.

He added that public and private banks have agreed to introduce mobile ATM facilities.

“Valid issue. We are trying to arrange some mobile facility to withdraw cash from their accounts. Public & Private bankers agreed to introduce mobile ATM facilities. People’s Bank has already initiated it. Trying our best to address this issue soon,” he said.
