A meeting between the health authorities and the National Elections Commission is scheduled to be held on the 16th of this month.
Elections Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake told media that after an election is called, discussions will be held with various sectors of the government and this meeting is also such a discussion.
He said he meeting was called before the coronavirus emergency and the meeting is not about the coronavirus risk
No decision has been taken to postpone the election and a need has not arisen for it yet, he added.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Commission Mahinda Deshapriya also said the Election Commission has not taken any decision to postpone the general elections, which is to be held on 25th April.
