Energy sector expert Ovitigama has been appointed as the Chairman of the Petroleum Development Authority (PDA).
The appointment was announced by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera via ‘X’ yesterday.
“Surath is an energy industry professional with over 20 years international experience and had worked in UK, Norway North Sea oil and gas sector and South East Asia,” he added.
As per the Minister, he has served as the Director General of PDA from 2020 and will be tasked with expediting and implementing the development and regulation of oil and gas exploration, offshore energy resources, setting up the national policies, roadmap, safety and regulatory framework for the production, use and export of green hydrogen.
