The construction of the Port City entrance connecting it to the expressway network is scheduled to commence today (10) under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
This is the first expressway to be constructed on pillars which will be 5.9 km in length. This new section of the expressway will connect to the Kelaniya Bridge at the Ingurukade junction.
From that point the expressway will be constructed up to the Colombo Port City on pillars.
This expressway would be built at a cost of $ 300 million under Asian Development Bank loan facility.
