President Maithripala Sirisena is reported to have agreed to testify before the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
This was revealed during the meeting held between the PSC members yesterday (02).
It is said that the President had notified the Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri about his willingness to testify.
Accordingly, the PSC is scheduled to record a statement by the President within the next few days, media reports stated.
However, previously President Sirisena had noted that even if he received notice, he would not testify before the PSC.
The PSC has convened on 18 occasions and over 25 persons, including the Prime Minister have testified before the PSC so far.
The term of the PSC was extended until the 30th of this month and the report is expected to be handed over to parliament prior to that.
