Over fifty files on notorious underworld drug kingpin Makandure Madush, who is currently in custody of the CID, on his criminal activities or those he had authorised has been called up from the relevant police stations, it is reported.
Madush was deported from Dubai and has been in custody of the CID for the past week. He was deported on May 05th.
Since the CID requires details of the criminal activities committed by him to assist in the interrogation process, these details have been called for.
Accordingly, crimes committed by Madush over the past eight years and crimes committed on his directives over the past two years including the attempt on IP Rangajeewa’s life, killing of Samayang and many other crimes. However, it is believed that gathering of all this information cannot be done overnight, the process is bound to take a considerable amount of time.
The CID is currently in the process of gathering a statement from Madush who is believed to have had a hand in the assassination plot targeting President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, as a report in this regard is due to be produced in court on May 17th.
