As four UNP-MPs had not reported to the UNP Disciplinary Committee, it has not been able to conduct the disciplinary inquiry, according to UNP internal sources.
Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Ajith P. Perera and Sujeewa Senasinghe had been summoned before the UNP Disciplinary Committee for having violated the party constitution.
Ajith P. Perera and Sujeewa Senasinghe had submitted a letter to the party General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam explaining their stand and said they would refrain from making any verbal response.
However, despite being notified, Athuraliye Rathana Thera and Wijayadasa Rajapaksa had not appeared before the UNP Disciplinary Committee.
They claim that they had not been notified to appear before the disciplinary committee either verbally or in writing.
According to the UNP Legal Secretary President’s Counsel Nishshanka Nanayakkara, those summoned before the disciplinary committee would be dealt with according to the party constitution.
